My mother witnessed a scenario where a father bought an Ipad, right on the spot, for his son because the boy refused to walk out of the store after he played a few games in the Ipad when he was in the store. I witnessed my 3 year old cousin, explaining how to play games and how to use the Ipad to my aunt. Once, I’ve seen a mother gave her Ipad to her crying daughter just to get the child to stop crying. Has Ipad come down to just an object for parents to give to their children to satisfy them? Has the new generation really relied upon technology?
What happened to the sole reason why it was invented? What happened to its functions to help businessmen to keep tracks of their schedule or also, to help adults and teens to surf the internet or read an e-book right on the spot? With million applications to download and use, Ipad was seen as the easiest way to connect with the world and makes work much easier.
Ipad, in its simplest definition, is a tablet computer by Apple. It is slightly larger than an Iphone and smaller than a typical laptop. It’s much easier to bring back and forth to anywhere we go. I’ve seen people watch videos on the Ipad in the train and even, bus. It’s easy to get, just pop in to the nearest gadget store or the Apple store, purchase it and voila, you are now the owner of an Ipad.
I’m not questioning parent reliability in raising their children. I’m not questioning why Apple made such invention. I just want the readers to sit down and ponder about this. Time is moving fast and we are being introduced to many new technology. More advanced gadgets are being invented by major and leading companies. Perhaps a newer version of Ipad, Iphone and Ipod are in discussion. Is it acceptable for kids to hold and use such advanced technology as early at the age of three?
Ipad is a cool invention but to me, I prefer the typical laptop. Don’t get me wrong, this is just my point of view and I’m just giving you something to muse about.
